On May 9, two Arabic daily newspapers covered the
workshop:
Irani inaugurates the principles of Law Enforcement
Workshop.

The workshop was inaugurated by Khaled Irani, Minister of Environment
at the Ministry of Environment. This workshop is organized in cooperation
with the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) for four days
with Jordan, Palestine Authority, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, and Iraq.
Irani announced that the Ministry is currently working on two by-laws:
Water Protection, and the Environment Impact Assessment and the
two by-laws will be issued soon. He also expects that this workshop
concludeswith a regional network of experts in environmental law
enforcement.

The Ministry of Environment and the EPA organized the Principles
of Law Enforcement for four day. Participants are from Jordan, Egypt,
Yeman, Algeria, Tunisia and the Palestinian Authority. The workshop
aims at enabling the participants to develop a mechanism to deal
with environmental issues and designing strategy and programs to
activate the enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and
by-laws.
